Top Our Recommended Destinations to Visit

Bangkok

Why Visit: As the bustling capital, Bangkok offers a mix of modernity and tradition. It is an amazing city with lots of thing to do. Visit the Grand Palace, Wat Arun, and the vibrant street markets where you eat from the famous pad thai, pad see ew to a local beer, or even if you feel brave enough you can try scorpions, spiders and many other insects! The city atmosphere is insane, It is so much going on every hour of the day.

Cost: Entry to the Grand Palace is around 500 THB ($15 USD). Street food meals range from 40-100 THB ($1.20-$3 USD). If you want to eat better the prices start at 160-200 TBH ($4,06-$5,50 USD). The range of prices of the acommodation is huge, you can get from $10 AUD a night to luxury hotel where you can spend much more every night, We decided to spent no more than $40 AUD a night and we were delighted. In this city as soon as you have air conditioner in your room you will be happy.

Chiang Mai

Known for its beautiful temples, night markets, and nearby mountains, Chiang Mai is a must-see. It is more than 300 temples here so it is a great variety. Don't miss the Sunday Walking Street and get lost for the streets of the city, is the best way to discover it.

The Temple Wat Chedi Luang

The temple Wat Chedi Luang was 86 meters hihg, but was destroyed by an earthquake, currently measuring half of what it once was.

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Temple

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Temple is located on the outskirts of Chiang Mai, specifically on MoMount Doi Suthep. It is pilgrimage site for Busshists and a magnificiente place to enjoy panoramic views of Chiang Mai.

Elephant Nature Park

The Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai is one of the most memorable experiences in Thailand! It’s the only place in the country where you can see elephants without causing them harm. Sadly, wildlife tourism remains a massive part of the standard backpacker trip, with most being unethical and even cruel. This vast nature reserve, however, truly provides a haven for rescued elephants, allowing them to live peacefully and healthily as they would in the wild.  A day at the Elephant Nature Park costs around 2,500-3,000 THB ($75-$90 USD) including meals. It is the most expensive activities you can do at Chiang Mai.

Cost: Temple visits are often free or have a small donation fee. The price of a hotel is up to you. It really depends on how much you are willing to spend, we spent around $30 AUD a night, and normally we got breakfast included.

Phuket

  • Why Visit Phuket?: Famous for its stunning beaches and vibrant nightlife, Phuket is perfect for relaxation and adventure. Explore Patong Beach, Kata Beach, and take a boat trip to Phi Phi Islands. If you got time and money, hire a tour to the Similan Islands, they are astonishing.
  • Phi Phi Islands: The most famous Islands of Thailand, It is worth to see, however, the number of people you will see on these islands takes away much of their charm. It is a beautiful place, but it is very overcrowded. For example, Maya Beach, the location where the movie "The Beach" featuring Leonardo DiCaprio was filmed, has been closed to the public for several years. After becoming so famous following the movie, the massive tourism destroyed the island's coral, and now they are trying to restore it.
  • Banana Beach: We loved this little beach, 20 minutes away from the airport by car. I think it is the most beautiful beach in Phuket. Since you have to go by car or motorbike and there isn't much parking space, there aren't too many people.

  • Freedom Beach: When we got to this beach, we were surprised that there was a fee to go to the beach, locals tried to charge 400 THB to get us to the beach, but We refused (the access was walking down the hill, we walked 15 minutes and we got to the beach, which is impressive as well).

  • The Big Buddha: A must see for culture lovers. Worth a visit in the evening as on the walk back you can sit and watch the sunset which was beautiful. Standing 45 meters tall, it is the third tallest statue in Thailand, located on the highest hill in Phuket. It is free. On the way to the top you will see on the side the mountains and if you look at the trees, you will see monkeys among the trees causing mischief. Sometimes they come up to where the people are, so be careful, as they can steal things and, in extreme cases, bite. Respect nature and please do not feed them.

  • Cost: Beach access is free (except Freedom Beach 100-200 THB per person). Island tours cost around 1,000-2,500 THB ($30-$75 USD). Meals at beachfront restaurants range from 150-300 THB ($4.50-$9 USD).

Ayutthaya

  • Why Visit Ayutthaya?: A UNESCO World Heritage site, Ayutthaya is home to ancient ruins and temples. It's a day trip from Bangkok that takes you back in time.
  • Cost: Entrance fees to the historical park are around 50 THB ($1.50 USD) per temple. Bicycle rentals cost around 50 THB ($1.50 USD).

    Krabi

  • Why Visit: Known for its dramatic limestone cliffs, clear waters, and beautiful beaches, Krabi is ideal for nature lovers adventure seekers. Visit Railay Beach, Ao Nang, and the emerald pools at Thung Teao Forest Natural Park.
  • Cost: Entry to Thung Teao Forest Natural Park is around 200 THB ($6 USD). Longtail boat rides to nearby islands cost approximately 300-500 THB ($9-$15 USD). Street food and local restaurants offer meals for 50-150 THB ($1.50-$4.50 USD).
